In December 2006 I got a phone call. “Can you help us create something for a trade show that will get people excited about our algorithmic trading products?”
Seriously, who could turn that down?
The clients initially wanted an ‘interesting Powerpoint presentation’ they could toss onto a large plasma screen at their booth. They handed me said presentation, and it was loaded with bullet lists of technical jargon. Definitely a must-see experience and sure to grab eyeballs at a busy trade event. Or not.
After some back and forth I was able to convince the business unit that if they wanted to get people to pay attention, and by people I mean the engineering/academic types who indulge in algorithmic trading, we needed to exploit something dear to their hearts: Tron.
